FBC Chataignier host Gospel music Sunday
The First Baptist Church in Chataignier will host a gospel music concert at 10 a.m. Sunday featuring Patti LeJeune, Brian Courville, and Steven Simon.

Free recreational fishing this weekend
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Free Recreational Fishing Days will be held June 11-12. Both Louisiana residents and non-residents will be allowed to fish without a license on any of the state’s public waters during that weekend.
Anglers are allowed to fish on all public bodies of waters without a license, but all fishing regulations still apply.

Golf lessons for Youth set June 20
Eunice Country Club will offer free golf lessons for girls and boys ages 8-14 on three dates, Monday, June 20, Monday, June 27, and July 11.
Due to limitations of space and equipment, only the first 30 applicants will be accepted.
For reservations, call 457-5173, provide your name, age, and a call back phone number. The applicant must have his or her own transportation to the city golf course in Eunice.

LDWF accepts applications
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will accept applications through June 20 for waterfowl group hunts for up to 12 hunters per group at White Lake Wetlands Conservation Area

Midwife fundraiser
Louisiana Constituents for Safe Childbirth is holding a fundraising event at the Acadiana BirthHouse open house from 2 to 5 p.m. June 18 at 803 S. Morgan Ave,, Broussard.
Tours of the Acadiana BirthHouse will be available, as well as a chance to meet midwives Kira Smith and Michel Martien.
LCSC is a non-profit organization, that provides research, education, resources, and support of birth options in Louisiana for healthy moms and babies. The Acadiana Chapter also holds meetings every fourth Tuesday of the month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Lafayette Moms and Babies.

Community Garden
The Eunice Community Garden has scheduled open hours from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays to allow the community to learn about the opportunity to garden in a community setting.
“Jardin des Amis” is located at 2201 W. Ash St. and is behind the state Department of Motor Vehicles office.

Saturday program at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

Summer camp at Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Summer Cultural Camp for the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 11 to 15.
The camp is for ages 9 to 12. The registration fee, cash or check is $50.
The center is located at at 250 West Park Ave., Eunice.

VFW bingo
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.

Evangeline Parish adult education classes
The Evangeline Parish adult education classes will be offered from 5 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Basile police station.

Knights of Columbus sells white crosses
The Eunice Knights of Columbus Council 1745 is currently selling white crosses to be placed in yards.
The crosses are available from Bill Parrie at 251 N. 6th St., or at Bertrand’s Printing, or in front of St. Anthony Church after each morning Mass at 7 a.m., 9 a.m., and 11 a.m.
A $5 donation is requested.

DAV requests van volunteers
Anyone interested in volunteering for the DAV (veteran or non-veteran), man or woman, is asked to contact Miguel Pousson at 457-2161 or 396-6392.
A requirement of good driving record is needed, as is a DAV physical.
Drivers are needed daily.

Hospice Volunteers needed
The La. Hospice Palliative Care is in need of volunteers to become a part of their hospice team, which provides comfort and companionship to patients and families.
Training is provided.

Support group meeting weekly
New Hope AFG will hold weekly support meetings for the friends and families of alcoholics at the Acadian Medical Center in the Lagniappe Room from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday.

Hospice Compassus is looking for caring individuals with warm hearts and helping hands.
Volunteers can help in many ways, such as, running errands, reading to a patient, companionship, and more.
