Police investigating stolen pickup, attack on man

A 51-year-old Lafayette man told Eunice Police he was struck in the head with a pistol and beaten by three black males at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.
Then the three attackers, who may be juveniles, stole his 2008 Dodge Ram pickup, a police report stated.
The incident occurred in the 400 block of East Maple.
Police were dispatched to the scene for a medical issue, but found a crime along with an injured man.
The victim told police he was with another man who left to go Brownie’s on Maple Avenue.
Three black males approached him and one of them hit him in the head with a handgun. The victim fell to the ground and said he entered a fetal position as he was kicked in the body and face.
The attackers left in his pickup truck traveling west on Maple Avenue, he said.
The police report indicates the man had a laceration on his head and light red marks on his ear and left side of his chin.
Eunice Police Randy Fontenot said the pickup truck was found this morning parked a couple of blocks away from the scene of the attack.
