Sales tax revenues improve

September sales tax revenues in Eunice and St. Landy Parish showed some improvement in month-to-month comparisons, according to the St. Landry Parish School Board Sales Tax Division.
But year-to-date revenues continue to decline. 
As of September, Eunice revenues this year total $3,948,018, a $33,584 or 0.8 percent reduction from the same period in 2015. 
Total sales tax revenues in the parish are down 2.4 percent from January to September. Total revenues are $48,755,563, down $1,210,698 from the same period in 2015. 
In Eunice, September sales tax revenues were $417,895, down 2.85 percent from the September 2015 revenues. 
The Eunice September revenues were up 4 percent from August revenues. 
St. Landry Parish total revenues in September were $5,163,003, up 0.25 percent from September 2015 revenues and up 1.7 percent from August revenues. 
The parish sales tax total includes parish, school, solid waste, law enforcement and municipal taxes.
The sales tax rate in Eunice is 10.75 percent. Of that 5 percent is state, 3.55 percent is parish and 2.2 percent is city. 
Unincorporated areas pay a 10.5 percent sales tax revenue, which includes 5 percent state and 5.5 percent parish rates. 
On April 1, the state sales tax rate rose by 1 percent.
