Seven-year-old finds gun, shoots man

Investigation continues in the case of a Eunice man shot early Monday, by a seven-year-old.
Police received a call about a shot fired on Manuel Street shortly after midnight.
The responding officer found a victim who had been shot in the upper leg and also recovered a .9 mm semi-automatic handgun.
According to officers, the gun was apparently fired by a 7-year-old boy.
Stories differ as to how the accident happened.
One is that the gun was under a pillow when found by the child; another is that the gun was in the victim’s hip pocket when the child grabbed it and pulled the trigger.
Either way, the victim was sporting a wound in what was termed the upper thigh.
In another juvenile investigation, officers charged a 14-year-old girl after she allegedly took her mother’s car for a ride about 2 a.m. Sunday.
She was taken into custody about two hours later and charged with curfew violation and being ungovernable.
