Stormy weather likely, some heavy rain possible
Drive with extreme caution. Roadways are beginning to flood after heavy rain in the Eunice area before and just after daylight.
A storm system will work its way across south-central Louisiana through the course of the morning, according to the National Weather Service.
A break in the downpour shortly after 8 a.m. allowed drains to spill their contents downstream in some Eunice neighborhoods, easing the overflow pressure on yards and roadways.
Rains will gradually end this afternoon and evening and skies will return to typically summertime conditions. Temperatures will remain warm and muggy with lows in the 70s. The region will be under a more stable air mass Wednesday, so less rain and more sunshine with temperatures approaching 90 again. A few scattered storms are possible each day through Friday.
The high in Eunice Monday was 90 and the overnight low, thanks to the pre-dawn showers, was 69. The city had received .3 of an inch of rain by 6 a.m.
