Two murder cases on docket; beating case, theft case languish
Trials are scheduled this month and next in two notable Eunice cases, while two others have seen no official action in months.
Robert H. Miller, III is set for trial July 29-30 before Judge Alonzo Harris.

Jury selection is set for Aug. 5-6 in the first-degree murder trial of Robert Heard, accusing of killing his wife in September 2012.
That case was on the docket of the Judge Donald Hebert, who died July 9, making it likely the matter will be delayed.
The state is not seeking the death penalty.
The case of two off-duty Eunice firemen accused of beating a man they thought was breaking into a vehicle has had no court action since their arrest last July.
Garrett Daville and Ryan Daville face charges of second-degree battery as well as charges stemming from allegedly pointing a gun at the alleged victim.
