Mamou man killed in Harley crash on Mississippi River bridge

BATON ROUGE - A Mamou man was killed Tuesday in a motorcycle crash on the Mississippi River bridge, a Baton Rouge police spokesman said.

Feryl Granger, 62, of 1916 James Ortego Lane, Mamou, died at about 8 a.m. at the scene of the crash, which was in the eastbound center lane of Interstate 10, Sgt. Don Kelly said in a news release.

Granger was driving a 2007 Harley Davidson Super Glide when he locked his brakes for unknown reasons and lost control of the motorcycle, Kelly said. The vehicle went down on its right side hitting the outside retaining wall.

Granger’s passenger, his wife, Daina Rene Granger, 30, was ejected from the motorcycle and suffered moderate injuries, Kelly said. She was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center.

Both Daina and Feryl Granger were wearing helmets, Kelly said. Alcohol and speed are not suspected to factors in the crash. The investigation is continuing
