Card-cloning arrest made, police urge billing reviews

A victim filed a report with the Eunice Police Dept as soon as he noticed discrepancies with his bank account. Officers immediately launched an investigation into the unauthorized transactions at several local businesses.
Unauthorized purchases included $850 from Walmart, $93 from Dollar General, and attempted purchases of $254 and $139 at Fred’s Pharmacy.
All purchases and attempted purchases were captured on video surveillance systems at the businesses.
A female suspect, identified as Rasheedah Taylor, who is employed by a local fast food establishment, was identified by officers.
She was then located and brought in for questioning during the investigation Friday. Taylor was then booked on charges of felony identity theft and being held in the Eunice City Jail without bond pending an appearance in 27th Judicial District Court on Feb. 18
This is the first such arrest by our agency for card cloning.
Taylor, 31, of 831 Tate, is charged with two counts of identity theft and two of attempted identity theft.
"We’re asking the public, check your bank account and card activity as often as you can. Notify law enforcement if your accounts have been compromised. Other victims are out there, they just haven’t noticed or caught the discrepancies yet,” police said.
