Candidate qualifying complete
With the nation speculating about who will be the vice-presidential candidates for John McCain and Barack Obama, Vermilion Parish candidates for several offices that will be highlighted in the fall election are officially registered with the Clerk of Court office in Abbeville.
There are two candidates for 15th Judicial District Court Judge Sec. 5 Div. C, Current City Court Judge for Abbeville, Judge Ed Broussard (D) and former City Attorney for Abbeville, Chad Edwards (D).
District Judge for Div. G candidate unopposed is Judge Durwood Conque (D).
Also unopposed is current District Attorney, Michael Harson (D).
The town of Delcambre will see a mayoral race between current mayor Carol Broussard (D) and candidate James C. George (NP). Delcambre will also see a race for Chief of Police between the current chief, James Broussard (D) and candidate Joel Terrebonne (D). Rounding out Delcambre’s election are District 1 Alderman candidate, Scott Saunier (NP), District 2, Sarah Trahan (D), District 3 race between Timothy Derise (D) and Raywood Sons (D), District 4 Donald Martin (D) and District 5 race between Mildred Delcambre( D) and Kim LeBlanc (R).
In the City of Abbeville “Rick” Putnum (D) is listed for City Court Judge and Jeremiah Bolden (O) will be the candidate for City Marshall.
In the race for City Council, current Councilman Wayne Landry (NP), who was appointed when Carlton Campbell resigned from the council and candidate Kevin Williams, Sr. (D).
The City of Kaplan also has an election for City Court Judge. Currently serving in that capacity and listed again, is Judge Frank LeMoine (D).
Kaplan will also see a race for City Marshall between Celia Lanlinais (D) and Percy Manceaux Jr. (D).
City Council District A candidate is Eva Morrison (D) who stepped in and took the place of her husband after his death.
Gueydan’s race for Alderman is James Gayle (R) and Scott Vallo (D).
Registered for Justice of the Peace for Ward 1 are Perry Bourgeois, Jr. (D) and Roland Suire (D)
Ward 2 candidate is the incumbant Eric John Toups (D).
Ward 4 Justice of the Peace candidate is Kenneth Picard (D) with Ward 5 incumbent Jesse Fabre (D) registering.
Ward 6 is Sheb Callahan (D) and Leroy Marceaux (D).
Ward 7, Johnny Choate (D) and Ward 8 Tim LeBlanc (D).
On the ballot for Constable are Randy Granger (D) and Paul Poche’ (NP) for Ward 1. Ward 2 is Faian Hulin (D); Ward 4, Charles Hebert (D); Ward 5, Earl Hoffpauir (R); Ward 6, Jake Hebert (D) and B.J. Lege (D); Ward 7, Antonie Barras, Jr. (D); Ward 8, Leward Abshire (D), Grayson Benoit (D) and Shelby Simon (D).
