Teens busted with drugs in car in Delcambre

DELCAMBRE - Two teen-agers who were joyriding recently in a car through the town of Delcambre, learned the hard way that it was not a good idea to play loud music while there was close to a pound of marijuana in the car.

Delcambre patrolman Brady Segura heard the loud music booming out of a car driven by 19-year-old Tyler Landry from New Iberia. Segura made a routine stop for the loud music.

However, when he approached the car, Segura, a 16-year veteran, said he smelled marijuana and called for backup.

The Erath Police Department were called to assist Segura with the traffic stop. When Erath officers Jeff Vincent and Mitch Pommier arrived, a search was done in Landry’s car, after he gave his permission, said Segura.

The police officers located 13 ounces of marijuana in Landry’s car and three more ounces were on Landry, Segura added.

“It was almost a pound,” Segura said. “This is one of the biggest drug stops we had a while.”

Erath 17-year-old Brenton Wesley was a passenger in Landry’s car and was also charged.

The police also found a 12-gauge shotgun in the backseat of Landry’s car. The police also located a scale.

They were charged with possession with the intent to distribute, in possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled substance and having drug paraphernalia.

Both teens were booked into the Vermilion Parish jail and bond was set at $13,500 each.
