Greater True Light Baptist Church hosts “Wink At Pink”

First annual "Wink At Pink" Bra Contest winners named.

The Greater True Light Baptist Church Scholarship Committee and the National Association of University Women-Eunice Branch presented a “Wink at Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Seminar Saturday morning.
The program included brief survival tips and suggestions on how to detect breast cancer by doing self-exams at home and having a yearly mammogram.
Maryland Graham, chairperson of GTLBC scholarship committee, informed attendees of the importance of early detection and encouraged self home exams and yearly mammogram appointments. She added, “Breast cancer is the number two killer in women today, with lung cancer as number one.”
As part of the program, many women enjoyed various musical selections, scriptures, testimonies from breast cancer survivors and a tribute to survivors.
A first annual Bra Contest was held with participants entering their creatively decorated poster boards and favorite bras. Judges judged entries based on creativity and originality.
First-place winner of the bra contest was Patricia Harrison who received $25 cash prize; Shayla Harrison won second place, winning a $15 cash prize; Henrietta Dupre took third place, winning a $10 cash prize; and honorable mentions went to Carolyn Baldwin, Ardessie C. Francois and Angela Lee.
