The complaint was received by police at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 27. The father alluded to the incident as having occurred some two hours before at “around 6:30”, according to the lobby complaint filed at the Eunice Police Department.
School officials said that Collins was not suspended from his coaching duties at Eunice High School following an internal investigation by school officials.
Eunice High Principal Mitch Fontenot said that Collins has never been suspended, still retains his title at the school and was “never proven to be at fault for anything”.
“The (Eunice)police had already investigated and found nothing to arrest him for,” said Fontenot. “Basically, from what my understanding is, the parents were pushing this and brought it to a judge, from what I understand. Now, basically, the parents are just pursuing every right that they have and they are going through the due-process right now.”
