The Chamber of Commerce has 180 members and 16 donors, the highest number ever, according to president Cedric Fruge.
The City Council authorized engineer Red Aucoin to seek bids on the new Harris Addition Park. Cost estimate is $92,000, half in city money and half in federal funds.
Dean Anthony Mumphrey is diligently pursuing his objective of establishing a nursing course at LSU Eunice.
Plans are being made for Eunice High’s first baseball team, according to Coach Merricks. A practice diamond is under construction behind the school.
Jack Burson won elecdtion to the Dist. 41 seat to the La. Constitutional Convention.
International Lumber of Port Barre was low bidder, at $69,885, for construction of the Lawrence Amy Fire Station. Mayor Wilson Moosa said construction should begin within a month.
Co-owners Ira Richard and Gene Duplechin said their D&R Welding Supply Co. will front on Laurel Avenue with a loading dock.
Renovation of the old Tri-Parish Bank building into the public library’s home at 2nd & Park continues.
