Cajun French musician
LAFAYETTE – Services for noted Cajun French musician Henry Adams, Jr. will be Wednesday. He died Jan. 19 at age 77.
He was a professional steel guitar player for more than 60 years, featured with many accomplished musicians in the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and the Cajun French Music Association Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife Adeline, a son and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.
Neurosurgeon
ZACHARY – Services for neurosurgeon Dr. Robert Hanchey will be Thursday. He died Jan. 16 at age 70.
He was an all-state basketball player at LaGrange High in Lake Charles and received a scholarship to USL (UL-L). He also attended McNeese State. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and held the Bronze Star. He practiced in Baton Rouge and in Albany, Ga.
Survivors include his wife Dana and two children.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Orthopedic surgeon
BATON ROUGE – Services will be Thursday for long-time orthopedic surgeon Dr. William Smith. He died Jan. 20 at age 88.
He practice 34 years in Baton Rouge and was among founders of Baton Rouge Orthopedic Clinic. He performed the first arthroscopic knee surgery conducted in Louisiana.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Methodist minister
BATON ROUGE – Services for retired Methodist minister the Rev. Ernest Guy, Sr. will be Thursday. He died Jan. 19 at age 85.
After a career as secretary-treasurer of Construction Materials Inc. he entered the United Methodist Church Local Pastor Program. He ministered at Day’s Church, Pine Grove, Nesom Memorial, Springfield, Huff Chapel and Maurepas.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy, two sons and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Greenoaks.
Coach, principal
MARKSVILLE – Services for teacher, coach and principal Oliver Clayton Bullard will be Wednesday. He died Jan. 19 at age 81.
He was a three-sport letterman for four years at Louisiana College and was an all-Gulf States Conference tackle. He coached basketball at Pineville High and Lafargue High before becoming principal at Lafargue, a post he held for 17 years. He was a member of the Louisiana College Sports Hall of Fame.
Survivors include his wife Helen and four daughters.
Arrangements are by Hixson Bros.
Long-time Gideon
KEITHVILLE – Services for long-time Gideon International official Carl Hawkins will be Wednesday. He died Jan. 18 at age 78.
He was founder and owner of Louisiana Batteries Inc and a Gideon for more than 40 years. He was on the board of Scott Camp Ministries.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette and three children.
