St. Edmund High School hosts LA District V FBLA Conference

St. Edmund Catholic High School hosted the LA District V FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Conference Friday, Jan. 31.
St. Edmund’s Thaddeus Richard, District V Vice President, presided over the opening ceremonies with a chosen theme of “Pioneering Prosperity, Engineering Excellence!”
There were 20 schools from around the state of Louisiana represented and nearly 735 FBLA members participating in the 38 different events.
Students took written, oral tests, presented speeches. An award session and newly elected District V Vice President was selected at the conclusion of the conferences
Students participated and competed in numerous events, some included: Impromptu Speaking Speeches, Public Speaking I & II, Mr. & Miss FBLA interviews and selections, Accounting I, Agribusiness, Banking & Financial Systems, Business Calculations, Computer Applications, Economics, Health Care Administration, Marketing, and much more.
Richard ran for District V Vice President again for the 2014-15 term and won the honor.
St. Edmund had 20 students which included Logan Fontenot, Heather Bieber, Savannah D’Aubin, Mayson Begnaud, Mollie-Claire Heinen, Kaylen Guillory, Claire Quirk, Brianna Naquin, Hunter Thibodeaux, Jada Fontenot, Maggie Richard, John Hansen Fruge, Lucy Brown, Benjamin Vidrine, Kathryn Leger, Alex Hunt, Kramer Rozas, Jacob Thibodeaux, Margaret Vidrine, and Thaddeus Richard who qualified for the State Leadership Conference to be held in Lafayette at the Cajun Dome Convention Center, March 23-25.
St. Ed also had 11 students who received excellent ratings; Lauren Fuselier, Heidi Bieber, Morgan Ruppert, Alex Marcantel, Drew Brown, Samantha Parks, Constance Fontenot, Courtney Phillips, Mallory Allain, Kylie Hebert, and Richlyn Ortego.
Maggie Richard received a first-place plaque for Impromptu Speaking. Allison LaFleur, Kelli Richard, Ashton Eckholdt, Lainey Hebert, Austin Gradney, Sarah Fruge, Kyle Dupre, Alex Stelly, Aimee Soileau, Dana LeJeune, Drake Dubois, Gabrielle Flores, Lauren Hannon, Adrienne Bergeaux, and Cole Bergeron also competed.
