The St. Edmund Blue Jays and the Eunice High Bobcats joined six other teams this past Saturday in the Perry Ptire Ford Eunice High/St. Edmund Varsity Baseball Jamboree held at Bobcat Field.
The three-inning contests offered a preview of their teams to coaches and fans prior to the start of this week’s regular season.
In the annual match-up between the Blue Jays and the Bobcats, Eunice took a 3-1 victory behind the pitching of Scotty Bihm.
Bihm allowed three hits, walked one, and struck out one in three innings.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead with an unearned run in the first inning. Jake Sonnier reached on a drag bunt, stole second, advanced to third on a balk, and scored on a wild pitch. The Cats would score two more runs in the second inning on a single by Brennan Ashley, a sacrifice bunt by Gunner Fontenot, and singles by Taylor Hanks and Andrew Lomas.
The Blue Jays scored their run in the third inning on singles by Drake Brunet, Drew Brown, and Christian Walker. Brown pitched two innings, allowing four hits, walking two, and striking out three.
