Silver Star holder, businessman
BREAUX BRIDGE – Services for businessman and former city councilman John Raymond will be Tuesday. He died March 22 at age 86.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, helped organize Thailand’s Special Forces while in the Army and was a 82nd Airbord Division veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired as a lieutenant colonel and held the Silver Star and the Bronze Star.
He was founder and co-owner of St. Agnes Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, the first administrator of Gary Memorial Hospital and a city councilman. He was a partner in Buck & Johnny’s Restaurant.
He served on the Atchafalaya Basin Board and the Louisiana Boxing Commission, was instrumental in formation of the Louisiana Military Hall of Fame & Museum in Abbeville and was on the board of the Louisiana Nursing Home Assocation for many years.
Survivors include his wife Coatney, a son and two daughters.

Special Ed specialist
LAFAYETTE – Services are Tuesday for special education educator Dr. Richard Dooliin. He died March 21 at age 81.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was director of Northeast Louisiana Cerebral Palsy School before becoming 20-year director of special education for Lafayette Parish.
Survivors include his wife Anna and three sons.
Arrangements are by Fountain.
Teacher, librarian
LAFAYETTE – Services for retired teacher and librarian Claire Rose Bourque will be Tuesday. She died March 22 at age 86.
She was a teacher and the initial librarian at Our Lady of Fatima School. She was instrumental in the development of the first centralized library system for the Lafayette Parish School System. She also was a teacher at L.J. Alleman and Woodvale Elementary schools.
Survivors include three sons and three daughters.
