Blue Jays fall to Hornets
Catholic High of Pointe Coupee pitcher Cole Landon struck out 10 Blue Jays as the Hornets rolled to a 11-0 win over St . Edmund Tuesday in the District 5-1A opener for both teams.
Drake Dubois walked in the second inning and Christian Walker singled in the fourth frame for the only two Blue Jays to reach base in the mercy-rule contest.
The Hornets grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Zach Lejeune walked off Blue Jay starter Drew Brown and scored on a hit by Riley McKneely.
CHPC added two more runs in the top of the second when Ried Scott doubled and scored on single by Brady Olinde.

The Hornets pushed their lead to 6-0 in the top of the third inning.
Jacob Juge reached on an error and scored on a hit by Scott.
Olinde followed with a double and Andrew Jarreau drove in two runs on a double to centerfield.
Langdon singled in the fourth inning and the Hornets forged ahead 7-0 when courtesty runner Landon Lemay scored on a passed ball.
Catholic sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the fifth inning and scored four runs to complete the 11-0 win.
Blue Jay freshman releiver Jack Brown struggled after two outs as he walked six and hit another batter in the inning

St. Edmund visits Mamou at 3 p.m. today for a non-district clash with the Green Demons.
