Noted artist
NEW ORLEANS – Services for reknowned artist George Dureau are pending. He died at age 83.
His paintings, sculpture and photographs of the human figure in various forms hanging in collections around the world. His painting of Professor Longhair was the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival poster in 1999 and his major public art works include the pediment sculpture for Harrah’s Casino on Canal Street and the gates of the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Long-time elections director
BATON ROUGE – Services for former elections official Gloria Crowson will be Wednesday. She died April 4 at age 72.
She retired from the office of the Secretary of State, Dept. of Elections. She was long-time executive director of elections for the state.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters.
Arrangements are by Greenoaks.
