Long-time LSU voice
BATON ROUGE – Services for long-time LSU football broadcaster Walter Hill will be Friday. He died April 19 at age 85.
He and John Ferguson were the LSU broadcasting team for almost 20 years. “Here come the Tigers” was his intro line for each game. He was a radio-television personality in Baton Rouge for decades, retiring as sports director at WRBZ-TV.
Survivors include his wife Sue and two sons.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.
Former SLU president
HAMMOND – Services were Monday for former Southeastern Louisiana University president Dr. Clea Parker. He died April 15 at age 87.
Parker led the university for 12 years. After retiring from that post, he worked with the State Department of Education as an evaluator. He was a former teacher and coach in the St. Tammany public school system.
Survivors include his wife Peggy and four children.
Boxing champ, track official
LAFAYETTE – Services are Tuesday for Hall of Fame track official and former Golden Gloves champion Simon Chiasson, Jr. will be Tuesday. He died April 17 at age 76.
He was a two-time Golden Glove champion and former professional boxer. He is in the USL and LSU Track & Field Officials Association Halls of Fame.
Survivors include his wire Audrey, a son and two daughters.
Arrangements are by Martin & Castille.
Boxing Hall of Fame member
LAFAYETTE – Services for three-time state Golden Gloves champion and member of the Louisiana Boxing Hall of Fame LeRoy O’Brien will be Tuesday. He died April 20 at age 76.
He was elected to the Louisiana Boxing Hall of Fame in 2013. He was former coach of the Cajun Stars championship softball team.
Survivors include his wife Jeanette and four daughters.
Arrangements are by Delhomme.
Long-tme vet
SHREVEPORT – Services for long-time veterinarian Dr. Tommy Williams are Tuesday. He died April 17 at age 79.
He practiced in Caddo Parish for 55 years. He was former president of the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and served on the State Board of Veterinary Examiners.
Survivors include his wife Barbara, two sons and a daughter.
Services are by Rose-Neath.
Former mayor
GRAND COTEAU – Services for long-time mayor and councilman Charles “C.J.” Andrus will be Wednesday. He died April 20 at age 87.
He was a career employee with Opelousas Sweet Potato Co. in Sunset and was mayor and city councilman for more than 16 years.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Melancon.
Former WHO physician
ARNAUDVILLE – Services for former World Health Organization physician Dr. Pierre Arquembourg are pending. He died April 19 at age 94.
He was a veteran of World War II. After leaving WHO, he was a medical researcher for LSU Medical Center and Ocshner Medical Foundation in New Orleans.
Arrangements are by Pellerin, Breaux Bridge.
