Alleged Crook Crashes after fleeing Walmart

Joseph Thompson is carried away by ambulance EMTs on Wednesday after his vehicle slid into a ditch escaping authorities.

It was a case of an alleged crook going crash.
Eunice Police Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifter fleeing the store. A description of a Maroon Chev SUV was given to officers.
Several police units were in the area when the suspect turned onto Hwy 190. Officers attempted to pull the vehicle over but he refused to stop.
The SUV then turned North onto the Old Basile Road then crashed in the ditch near the intersection of the Old Basile Road and W Magnolia Street.
The driver/ suspect, identified as Joseph Thompson, was taken into custody but sustained injuries from the crash.
Officers called an ambulance and Thompson was transferred to Acadian Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released after the investigation is completed.
