Man driving stolen car and fleeing clops leaves road, its tree, dies
Shortly before 7:30 a.m. on Monday, tTroopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on La. Hwy 1032 (4-H Club Road) south of La. Hwy 1034 (Vincent Road) in Livingston Parish.
The crash killed Hunter L. Lehmann, 23, of Denham Springs.
Lehmann was driving a stolen vehicle and was wanted by authorities in Livingston Parish for suspected previous criminal activity.
Troopers learned that Lehmann allegedly stole a 2010 Dodge Ram from the Duff Road area of Walker earlier in the day.
Denham Springs police officers spotted the stolen vehicle, and a short pursuit ensued.
The investigation revealed that the crash occurred as Lehmann was driving the Dodge southbound on La. Hwy 1032. As he was traveling southbound, Lehmann failed to negotiate a left-hand curve and the Dodge ran off the roadway to the right.
After leaving the roadway the Dodge struck a tree head on.
Lehmann was unrestrained and he suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Driver impairment is suspected at this time and a toxicology sample was taken from him and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
Excessive speed is considered to be a factor in this crash.
