Joshua 'June' Lejeune, Enduring Freedom vet, accident victim

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014, time pending at Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas for Joshua Joseph "June" Lejeune, age 24, who died Friday, May 30, 2014 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette follwing a traffic accident on La. 13 south of Eunice.
Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
He was a lifelong resident of Opelousas. He was employed as a diesel mechanic and more recently as a landscaper, which was a hobby of his. He was also an excellent artist. Mr. Lejeune was a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq in 2010, having served in the Army National Guard in Delta Co 3-156.
Survivors include his parents, Kenneth Lejeune and the former Phyllis Fontenot, of Opelousas; maternal grandmother, Yvonne Fontenot of Eunice; two sisters, Natasha Marie Lejeune of Port Barre and Megan Sue Lejeune of Opelousas; two nephews, Ayden Lane and Ian Lane Pickett; and one niece, Aubree Marie Pickett.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Edward Fontenot, Sr.; and paternal grandparents, Wilbert Lejeune and the former Emily Broussard.
A rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Visitation is open until time of service.
Pallbearers will be Joshua Lane Pickett, Nick Lebert, Darrell Williams, Eddie Fontenot, Lionel Lafleur and Dylan Lejeune. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Lejeune, Donald Kernan, Allen Jones, Kent Fontenot, Edward Fontenot, Jr., Michael Fontenot and Brent Fontenot.
