Thibodeaux says he'll seek police chief post

He’s in.
Ending weeks of speculation, Bart Thibodeaux said Monday he will run for Eunice chief of police in the Nov. 4 primary election.
Thibodeaux, a 1978 graduate of St. Edmund’s High School, is the fourth announced candidate in the race.
He retired at the end of May from the Department of Homeland Security - Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Thibodeaux said he decided to retire and run because he felt he could best do the chief’s job.
The son of the late Leonce “Pop” Thibodeaux and Bobbie Thibodeaux, the candidate is married to the former Jackie Fontenot. He has three children and five grandchildren.
He is a U.S. Army Military Police veteran. He was in the Louisiana National Guard four years as an MP, including active service during Desert Storm.
Before joining the Eunice Police Dept., Thibodeaux worked for the family-owned insurance agency.
At the police department for six years, he reached the rank of sergeant and was a member of S.W.A.T.
Thibodeaux joined the U.S. Dept. of Justice, Bureau of Prisons in 1988 as a correctional officer and moved to the Immigration and Natural Service as a detention enforcement officer in 2003.
He also served as a senior road officer and as a range logistics officer.
Also planning to run are incumbent Chief Ronald Dies, City Court Probation Officer Randy Fontenot and retired detective Lt. Raymond "Bubba" Cole.
