Lady Jays earn win over STM in Summer League

The Lady Jays’ four runs in the first inning proved enough as St. Edmund grabbed a 4-1 win over St. Thomas More in summer league play at Eunice High on Thursday.
Heather Bieber singled with two outs to start the rally and later scored on a passed ball.
Jami LeBouef reached on a fielder’s choice and Casey Lafleur was hit in the helmet with a pitch to load the bases.
Sydney Thibodeaux drove in LeBouef to push the Lady Jays ahead, 3-0.
Lafleur and Thibodeaux crossed home plate when Kelli Richard reached on a fielding error.
St. Edmund threatened in the bottom of the second when Presley Vidrine singled but was left stranded at second base.
Maddie Cormier singled in the fourth inning and Gabbie Fontenot reached on an error but neither scored.
After leaving three runners on base in the first three innings, St. Thomas More avoided the shutout with a run in the top of the fourth inning.
Next Thursday, the Lady Jays travel to Lafayette High to face Sacred Heart of Ville Platte and the Lady Lions.
Eunice High travels to St. Martinville to take on Westgate and the Lady Tigers.
