Special panel airs citizens' concerns

A year ago, during a City Council meeting, Alderman-at Large Jack Burson suggested that a “citizen council”, comprised of non-elected members, be formed in the city of Eunice.
“It’s been my experience over the years that a citizen’s advisory committee function can be extremely useful to a decision-making body such as a mayor or a city council,” said Burson.
The “Eunice Citizen’s Advisory Board” was formed as a result of Burson’s suggestion and Mayor Rusty Moody’s agreement.
The members are: Douglas Bellard; Michael Cosino; Charles Daigle; Mary Ellen Donatto; Billy Gil; Charlene Rainville; Felicien Simon; Harry Summerlin.
The function of this body is to hear the concerns of any citizen about Eunice matters.
The members will address these concerns with the city official or governing body involved.
Citizens who wish to voice a concern should leave only their name and a contact number with Candace Reeves in the mayor’s office at 457-7389.
Ms. Reeves will forward the contact information to the board’s chairperson, Mary Ellen Donatto, who will then return calls to the citizens.
The committee ordinarily meets at 4 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month.
