Simmesport youth electrocuted
A Simmesport teenager was electrocuted as he tried to unplug an outdoor extension cord.
The accident happened around 7 p.m.
Zeth Rogers, 15, of Simmesport, was pronounced dead at Avoyelles Hospital after First Responders tried to save his life.
“He was doing some type of activity at a relative’s home on Riverside Drive,” Simmesport Police Chief Brandon Spillman said.
Spillman said Rogers was reportedly barefoot in a wet yard and trying to unplug an extension cord when the accident occurred.
First Responders were on the scene before the police arrived, Spillman said. They worked diligently at the scene and all the way to the hospital, the chief added.
Rogers was a student at Avoyelles High. Classmates flooded Facebook with comments concerning Rogers and how well-liked he was at school.
