Lady Cougars down Eunice

Sometimes one big hit can make the difference in a ball game.
St. Thomas More’s Bailey Hemphill blasted a grand slam in the top of the first inning to lift Team Cougar to a 4-1 win over Eunice High on Thursday.
The Lady Cats threatened in both the first and second innings when Mia LaJeune walked and Ryan Citizen singled but neither scored.
Eunice avoided the shutout in the bottom of the third when Bailey Vidrine was hit by a pitch and scored when Logan Ledoux reached on a bases-loaded error.
Lady Bobcat pitcher Payton Winn suffered the loss as she allowed four runs on five hits with a strikeout and two walks.
Team Cougar pitcher Katelyn Norse allowed one run on just one hit with two walks and two hitbatsmen.
On Thursday, the Lady Cats will travel to Scott to take on Acadiana High at 4 p.m. and St. Edmund at 5:30 p.m.
Eunice will close the summer season at Lady Cat Field on June 30 with games against Sacred Heart of Ville Platte and St. Martinville.
