DUI suspected after SUV hits four-year-old in intersection
Driver impairment is suspected after a 4-year-old female pedestrian died in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Ouachita Parish.
Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to the wreck on U.S. 165 south of Interstate 20 at 9:42 p.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer, driven by Marvin Jones, 45, of Monroe, was traveling north on 165 when it struck the girl, who walked into the intersection at Ticheli Road.
Jones was wearing his seat belt and did not report any injuries. The girl died at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.
A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. Jones was arrested for driving while impaired and and booked into Ouachita Correctional Center.
The crash remains under investigation.
