Unbelted driver killed when SUV leaves I-49 frontage road, flips

Shortly before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred on the I-49 Frontage Road near Kennerson Road in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 32-year -old Corey L. Doucet of Opelousas.
The initial investigation by State Police revealed that the crash occurred as Doucet was driving a 2004 GMC Yukon northbound on the Frontage Road.
Doucet failed to negotiate a left hand curve, and his GMC traveled straight off the roadway. After leaving the roadway the GMC struck a ditch, causing the vehicle to overturn.
Doucet was unrestrained at the time of the crash and suffered fatal injuries as a result. Driver impairment is unknown at this time. A toxicology sample was taken from Doucet and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
