Mayor Moody announces re-election bid
Mayor Claud “Rusty” Moody, Jr. has announced his candidacy for re-election in the Nov. 4 primary election.
Moody, a retired educator and administrator, is completing his first four-year term.
He is married to the former Dolores Comeaux. Their children are Jonathan and his wife Kasey, of Baytown, Texas (children Jadin, Jordan and Nathan) and Danielle Fontenot and her husband Coby of Eunice (children Emma, Tanner and Caroline).
Moody’s parents are the late Claud W. Moody and Gloria Sandoz Moody.
The mayor is a U.S. Army veteran whose tour of duty included Osan Air Force Base, South Korean, with the 33rd Artillery Brigade.
He retired after a 42-year career with the St. Landry Parish public school system.
He was a teacher at Eunice Jr. High, assistant principal at the junior high, principal at Highland Elementary and assistant superintendent of operations.
Moody was selected as St. Landry Parish Elementary Principal of the Year and Acadiana Reading Council Principal of the Year.
