Race is on ... qualifying over, Nov. 4 fields set

Two Eunice City Council members and a School Board member representing part of the city are unopposed in the Nov. 4 primary election.
Three days of qualifying in the the St. Landry Clerk of Court’s office ended at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
Unopposed are Ward 2 City Council member Germaine Simpson, Ward 4 member Scott Fontenot and School Board Dist. 11 member Roger Young.
Two candidates are in the mayor’s race, four are in the city judge race and five are in the police chief contest.
School Board Dist. 12 has four candidates and Dist. 13 has two.
The district judge race from the Eunice sub-section has two candidates, one from Eunice, the other from Opelousas, as as does the district attorney campaign.
