William Avenel of Mandeville accepted the post of Moosa Memorial Hospital administrator. Douglas Longman is retiring.

Dresser Industries’ decision to close the Eunice plant will cost city residents a multi-million dollar payroll as well as tax receipts.

New members of the St. Edmund School Board are Ken Richard, Robert Brown and Jed Reviere.

Eunice High’s Chris Savoy signed a baseball scholarship with Bossier City Community College. He was an all-district pitcher.

The City Council opened bids for improvements at the airport, including erection of a perimeter security fence.

The Eunice area suffered little damage from Hurricane Andrew but parishes to the east and southeast didn’t far as well.

The LSU at Eunice Foundation has been incorporated. Officers are Gerald Hardy, president; Dr. Rodney Landreneaux, vice-president; and Jacque Pucheu, treasurer.

Gary D. Courville has announced his candidacy for the St. Landry Parish Police Jury.
