Donatto seeking School Board Dist. 13 seat

Mary Ellen Donatto is a candidate for School Board District 13 in the Nov. 4 primary election.
The sixth of nine children, she worked five years as a teacher aide in the St. Landry Parish School System to fund her college education.
She received her bachelor of education degree in elementary education and applied for, and got, a job at Eas Elementary. She has been a resident of Eunice since shortly afterward.
Donatto was a classroom teacher for 13 years, during which time she received a Master of Education degree.
She then served an additional 13 years as Instructional Specialist at East and Highland Elementary and in the the Central Office, during which time she received an additional Master of Education Degree – this time in the area of Supervision and Administration.
Donatto’s final 14 years in the St. Landry system were spent as principal at East Elementary.
During her career, Donatto participated in panel discussions in Washington, D.C. on school improvement, did presentations at Georgia State University and at the Louisiana Department of Education, and was named Louisiana State Elementary Principal of the Year twice.
