Experience Louisiana Festival planning picks up momentum

Dates are set, sponsors are on board and the Experience Louisiana Festival planning is shifting into high gear.
Committee member Dwight Jodon on Tuesday night brought the City Council up to speed on festival developments, receiving a ringing endorsement of support afterward.
The festival is scheduled on the LSU Eunice campus on Nov. 7-8, 2015.
As currently projected, festival components will take up essentially all of the campus outdoor area.
Those components will include:
Music stage, featuring a line-up of musical talent representing the diverse genres of music from across the state;
Musician’s Village, a 117,000 square foot quadrangle dedicated to scheduled and unscheduled jam sessions led by well-known musicians from the various genres;
Artist’s Village, an opportunity for artists from across the state, representing many mediums, to gather, network and exhibit;
Walk-through Louisiana, an area that will afford communities, parishes, tourist centers, festivals and regional entities an opportunity to showcase themselves in whatever manner they choose - from brochures to bites to eat, giving attendees a chance to learn more about the state we’re in.
Also under consideration are a Film Village, where the state’s growing movie industry can network, share and exhibit, and a Cook-Off.
Also on the agenda are food booths, a craft village, athletic events, a classic car show, a poker run, Bingo and poster competition.
Additionally, LSU Eunice’s annual Community Day will move to the Festival dates from its traditional spring date.
