WWL weatherman
NEW ORLEANS – Services will be Sept. 20 in Slidell for long-time WWL Television meterologist Dave Barnes, Jr. He died Sept. 13 in Tampa, Fla.
He was with the National Weather Service before working almost 209 years for WWL.

Tulane professor
NEW ORLEANS – Services for Tulane professor emeritus Arthur Welden are pending. He died Sept. 10 at age 87.
He was Ida Richardson Professor of Botany Emeritus at Tulane. His specialty was mycology, the study of fungi.
Survivors include his wife Frances and two sons.
