Blue Jays brace for No. 6 Bearcats

Even with a 20-0 lead at the break, the outcome of the game seemed still in doubt between the Bulldogs and Blue Jays.
But 16-third quarter points put the game out of reach as St. Edmund rolled to a 42-6 win over Iota.
Another rival comes to town this Friday as No. 6 Basile visits Blue Jay Field.
Last year, Basile grabbed a 29-22 win as the Bearcats scored with 52 seconds left in the game on a 53-yard screen pass from Mark Ivory to Kendrick Ceaser.
“We can’t spot them 20 points and decide to start playing in the second half,” David said. “They have talent and they are one of the better teams we will face all season.”
Ceaser had gained 343 yards and scored four times so far this season.
Gabe Fontenot put up 11 yards on 19 carries and scored twice in the Bearcats’ 35-7 win over Sacred Heart of Ville Platte.
Ceaser gained 185 yards on 17 carries with touchdown runs of 78-and 60-yards.
“They play a high level and have a lot of tradition,” David said of the Bearcats.
“It should be a good game for the fans,” the coach said. “It could be who has the ball last and executes wins the game.”
Against Iota, Blue Jay quarterback Drew Brown completed 11-of-18 passes for 2-8 yards including three touchdown tosses to Alex Hunt, Drake Brunet and Cullen Brown.
Drew Brown also gained 43 yards on 11 carries and scored on a 12-yard run.
Brunet finished with four catches for 73 yards including a 45-yard score.
Hunt had four catches for 60 yards with a 40-yard touchdown catch.
William Chachere had two catches for 40 yards and also ran for a 33-yard touchdown.
