Hearing set in 2010 carnal knowledge case

Four years after his arrest, a Eunice man has a pre-trial hearing scheduled this week on charges of carnal knowledge. His alleged victim was 13 at the time.
In the time since the sex charge was lodged, Corey Pitre, Jr., 23, has been arrested a number of times, including last weekend.
Details of the carnal knowledge case are not part of the public record. Judges in the 27th District Court ordered sealed all but the barest minimum court minute entries in sex-related cases.
Base information about circumstances leading to an arrest in all other types of cases is therefore not public in these type cases.
What is known is that Pitre was charged with carnal knowledge and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in May 2010. Whether the alleged victim is male or female is not part of the record.
Pitre appeared for arraignment on May 5, 2010 and pleaded not guilty. His bond was set at $20,000, Randy Wagley was appointed his attorney and the case was assigned to the late Judge Donald Hebert.
The case is now on the docket Monday of Temporary Judge Mildred Methvin, appointed to the St. Landry bench when Hebert died earlier this year.
No appearances are yet scheduled in Pitre’s latest arrest.
Pitre, now 23, was charged Sept. 27 with attempted unauthorized use of an access card and illegal possession of stolen things.
Records indicate he attempted to use someone else’s bank access card at an ATM. The ATM security camera apparently recorded the attempt.
Pitre had been picked up the previous day on three City Court bench warrants for theft charges earlier this year.
He was charged with two counts of trespassing and one of attempted burglary in 2013.
His arrest file also includes:
June 2011, theft, filing or maintaining false public records;
June 2011, simple battery;
May 2010, simple battery;
March 2010, disturbing the peace;
November 2009, illegal possession of stolen things, aggravated flight from an officer, traffic offenses, after a high-speed police chase through Eunice; Pitre eventually pleaded guilty to flight from an officer and unauthorized use of a moveable, and was sentenced to two years suspended with probation and six months in jail with credit for time served.
October 2009, possession of marijuana; in Feb. 2010, Pitre was sentenced to six months suspended, put on probation, and ordered to do 10 days of community service.
