Educator, ex-mayor
ALBANY – Services for retired educator and former mayor Louis Bartus are Oct. 28. He died Oct. 23 at age 88.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He coached and taught at various Livingston and Tangipahoa Parish schools and was principal at Maurepas and Holden high schools. He was a former town clerk, alderman and mayor of Albany. He retired from the State Dept. of Education.
Survivors include his wife Pauline and three children.
Arrangements are by Harry McKneely & Son, Hammond.

French language advocate
BATON ROUGE – Services for French language advocate and nurse Nancy Claitor are Oct. 27. She died Oct. 22 after an auto accident.
She was a member of the board of Friends of French Studies, LSU; co-owner and harbor master of Marina del Ray in Madisonville; and former co-owner and manager of Claitor’s Law Books & Publishing. She was a retired geriatric nurse.
Survivors include her husband Robert and three sons.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Chiropractor
GONZALES – Services for pioneering chiropractor Dr. Margaret Bryant will be Oct. 28. She died Oct. 25 at age 85.
She and her late husband James were instrumental in pushing for the state to begin licensing chiropractors in the mid-1970’s.
Survivors include two daughters.
Arrangements are by Ourso.
