Gold team avoids elimination; Game 6 Thursday night
The LSU Eunice baseball team’s Fall World Series saw the Gold squad grab a 10-4 victory on Tuesday night while facing elimination to make the series a 3-2 advantage for team Black.
The Gold team saw sophomore Ben Braymer strike out seven batters in five innings to earn the win, allowing just four hits and two walks. Offensively, redshirt freshman Will Trahan finished 4-for-5 at the plate with a double and two runs scored to lead the attack.
Freshman Cade Stone, redshirt sophomore Trey Caswell and redshirt freshman Janson Bourque all notched two hits, as Stone (RBI, run scored) and Caswell (2 RBIs, run scored) each collected doubles while Bourque drive in an RBI and scored once.
Sophomore Sam Walley was saddled with the loss for the Black squad , allowing four runs (1 earned run) in five innings of work, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out four batters.
At the plate, sophomores Brennan Bozeman and Juan Soriano each finished with three hits, as Bozeman collected an RBI and Soriano tallied a double and two runs scored. Freshman Zack LaFleur added two hits of his own with a double, RBI and run scored in the loss as well.
The Gold squad will try and fight off elimination again on Thursday night, as game six is set to begin at 6 p.m. at Bengal Stadium.
