Family practitioner
SHREVEPORT – Services are Jan. 2 for general practitioner Dr. Robert “Bob” Rushing. He died Dec. 29 at age 86.
He practiced general medicine with the late Dr. Jack Birdwell and subsequently with Drs. George Risinger, Ann Risinger Landry and Wayne Barksdale. Dr. Rushing was a founding Fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and he helped establish the Family Medicine Department at the LSU Medical School in Shreveport.
Survivors include two children.
Arrangements are by Rose-Neath.

Civic leader
ALEXANDRIA – Services were Dec. 31 for civic leader Ruth Bindursky. She died Dec. 29 at age 83.
She was formerly on the board of the YWCA Big Brothers and Big Sisters, City Park Players and KLSA Public Radio. Ruth Anne was a sustaining member of the Alexandria Junior League. She also served as a member of the Central Louisiana Community Foundation Board, the FOTAZ Board and founded the Bindursky Family Humanitarian Award.
Survivors include four children.

Former juror, councilman
STERLINGTON – Services for former police juror and town councilman John White will be Jan. 3. He died Dec. 28 at age 94.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a Ouachita Parish police juror for 12 years and a Sterlington councilman for eight. He was instrumental in formation of the parish fire department.
Survivors include his wife Louise and four children.
