School of Forestry director
BATON ROUGE – Services for retired director of the LSU School of Forestry, now the School of Renewable Natural Resources, Paul Burns will be Jan 10. He died Jan. 5 at age 94.
He was a U.S Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was on the LSU faculty for more than 30 years.
Survivors include three daughters.

Catholic educator
OPELOUSAS – Services for former superintendent of Catholic schools in Houma-Thibodeaux Sister Judith Coreil, MSC will be Jan. 9. She died Jan. 4 at age 78.
She was founding principal of Christ the King School in Terrytown and former assistant superintendent of Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of New Orleans. For seven years she was director of curriculum for the National Catholic Education Association in Washington, D.C. For five years she was director of public relations at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home and was then director of the Office for Religious for the Diocese of Lafayette.
Survivors include a brother.
Arrangements are by Sibille.

Fence company exec
SCOTT – Services for fence company president Russell Dailey will be Jan. 8. He died Jan. 4 at age 60.
He was president of Dailey’s Fence Co., a firm started by his father in 1969. He was a two-time Mardi Gras krewe king.
Survivors include his wife Karen and a son.
Arrangements are by Delhomme.

Kindergarten pioneer
LAFAYETTE – Services for kindergarten pioneer Shirley Fisher will be Jan. 9. She died Jan. 3 at age 87.
She was an innovator in early childhood education, opening one of the first kindergarten programs in Lafayette in her home in 1961. The program evolved into Fisher’s Early Childhood Development Center.
Survivors include her husband David and seven children.

Retired physician
NEW ROADS – Services for retired family physician and assistant professor of medicine Dr. Jim Christopher will be Jan. 9. He died Jan. 4 at age 82.
He practiced family medicine and general surgery for nearly 50 years and was assistant professor of medicine at LSU School of Medicine, Earl K. Long Hospital, for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife Dianne and three children.

Oil field exec
RAYNE – Services for oil field executive Daniel LeLeux will be Jan 8. He died Jan. 6 at age 89.
He was a U.S Army veteran of World War II’s European theater, including the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. He was former president of Sunnyland Contracting and of Delmont Drilling and DEL Oil and Gas Corp.
Survivors include two children.
Arrangements are by Gossen.
