George Sonnier, former president of auto/truck center

George Sonnier died on the morning of Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Oaklane Wellness & Rehabilitation Center in Eunice at the age of 88. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Entombment will follow in the St. Paul Mausoleum with Msgr. Robert Romero Celebrant.
He was president of Sonnier Auto & Truck Center from 1972 to 1996 as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus and ushered for years at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Sonnier; his son, Rodney Sonnier and his wife, Nikki; and his sister, Wilda Leger all of Eunice; four grandchildren, Kellan Sonnier, Katelyn Brown, A1C Bethany Sonnier, and Dominic Sonnier; and four step- grandchildren, Gary, Brandon, Brent, and Quinten Swann.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney Joseph and Agnes Aguillard Sonnier, and two brothers, Hilary and Elry Sonnier.
Visitation will be held at Ardoin’s on Thursday, January 15 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and again on Friday, January 16 from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Gary Gaudin and Deacon Chuck Ortego will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for the purchase of tabernacle candles and hardware at the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice in his memory. Donations may be mailed to 1320 West Elm, Eunice, LA 70535.
