Last Orphan Train survivor
ERATH – Services for Alice Bernard, the last survivor of Louisiana’s Orphan Train movement, will be Jan. 20. She died Jan. 17 at age 98,.
She came to Louisiana from New York City on the Orphan Train in 1919, adopted by a family in Delcambre.
Survivors include seven children.
Arrangements are by David.

Restaurant owner
BATON ROUGE – Services for restaurant owner Charles “Greg” Giamanco will be Jan. 21. He died Jan 16 at age 66.
He owned and operated Gaimanco’s Restaurant and was in the restaurant industry for more than 40 years.
Survivors include his wife Patricia and three children.
Arrangements are by Rabenhorst.

Former councilman
LIVONIA – Services for former town councilman Leroy Achee, Sr. will be Jan. 19. He died Jan. 16 at age 84.
He owned and operated several businesses, including The Western Auto, a service station, a truck stop and a heating and refrigeration company. He was a former member of the town council and the Pointe Coupee School Board. He also served on the Point Coupee-West Feliciana Bridge, Ferry and Tunnel Authority.
Survivors include five children.
Arrangements are by Niland’s.

Green Stamp man
SHREVEPORT – Services for former Sperry & Hutchinson representative and noted amateur tennis player James Adams were Jan. 16. He died Jan. 9 at age 94.
He was a B-24 pilot from 1942-1945 during World War II, earning the DFC for 34 combat missions over Western Europe, including D-Day. He was the S&H Green Stamp Man for North Louisiana, East Texas and parts of Mississippi and Alabama. He was state doubles tennis champion in this 40’s and 50’s and played organized tennis until age 93.
Survivors include four sons.
