Harlem Ambassadors at Eunice High
Several Eunice elementary schools and area St. Landry Parish school students arrived at Eunice High School gymnasium Thursday, Feb. 12 to see Hoops and Stunts and hear motivational speakers from the Harlem Ambassadors.
The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, hilarious comedy routines, music, dancing for kids, in which all gearing toward important messages for students, “Your future is important. You have a choice to make. Make the right choice now. You are a Winner,” said Emcee for Ambassadors Lade Majic.
Majic informed the group of the requirements to be met to become a team member of the Ambassadors. “One has to be of good character, drug-free, and have a college degree.”
Majic encouraged students to listen and learn. “Your teachers, principal, parents and church leaders are setting examples for you. Listen to them.” “Never let fear interfer with your success,” Majic added.
Majic said, “Give the best you have at school and at home. It’s okay to mess up. Tomorrow is another day.
“Encourage and believe in yourself,” she added.
The Harlem Ambassadors began in 1998 and have since then performed more than 2,400 professional comedy basketball games as fund-raising and community entertainment events for non-profit organizations, the U.S. military and community service groups since 1998.
These events have helped raise over $9 million for communities in 50 states and 20 countries.
The Ambassadors have appeared at Pearl Harbor, Bosnia, Kosovo, Sarejevo, Korea, Japan, the Marshall Islands, Guam, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of Georgia, Mexico, Germany, England and Canada.
