Bengals lead youth clinic

A change in the Bengals’ game schedule may have been the start of something new for LSU Eunice baseball team and the Eunice Recreation department.
Recreation director George Schneider said the weather forced to the Bengals to reschedule a game and miss last week’s player evaluation for boys age 7-14.
The Eunice High and St. Edmund teams stepped up and led the evaluation of the recreation league players.
The LSU Eunice team then led a clinic for over 100 kids on Wednesday night at the complex.
“This is the first time we have done it this way,” Schneider said. “But I think the kids will get more out of it with a clinic.”
LSU Eunice head coach Jeff Willis said this was a great event for both his players and the young guys they taught in the clinic.
“This is the age where our national past time and our game starts,” Willis said. “This helps our kids develop a sense of servant hood and want to give back.
“There was somebody when they were the age of these young guys out here that did it for them.
“It is important for them to spend time with the young players and give back.”
Willis said the clinic allows his player to teach and not just watch at an evaluation.
“They can teach what they know and have learned.”
“This is very special and good to see them loving the game,” Bengal player Trenon Trosclair said.
“It was good to be able to give back to the kids,” Trey Caswell said. “They look up to us and it is great to be with them.”
