Eunice police issue seat belt citations
The Eunice Police Department, which is partnering with the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission to reduce the number of fatal and injury crashes in Louisiana, issued 79 citations from Friday through Thursday.
The grant is broken up into three phases/campaigns.
Phase One / Campaign “Buckle Up In Your Truck” began Friday ended Thursday. The Eunice Police Department is agreeing to work 125 hours of overtime and will be receiving $2,500 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for working the hours and to cover the over time wages paid. Focus will be on seat belt usage in pickup trucks.
Phase Two / Campaign “Click It Or Ticket” begins May 18 and runs through May 31. The Eunice Police Department is agreeing to work 250 hours of overtime and will receive $5,000 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for working the hours and to cover the over time wages paid to the officers participating in the over time hours worked during this phase. Focus will be on seat belt usage in all vehicles.
Phase Three / Campaign “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” Impaired Driving is scheduled Aug. 15 and runs through Sept. 7. The Eunice Police Department is agreeing to work 250 hours of overtime and will be receiving $5,000 from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission for working the hours and to cover the over time wages to the officers participating in the over time hours worked during this phase.
