St. Edmund host 7th-and 8th-grade awards ceremony

St. Edmund School held its annual seventh-and eighth-grade awards program Friday recognizing and honoring students who excelled in all academics. On the program, awards were given to students who maintained all “A’s” Principal Honor Roll, A & B honor roll,
Accelerated Readers recipients were recognized. Those receiving top AR points of 125 points, and 150 points were given certificates. AR Bronze medals of more than 150,000 words and Silver medals of more than 1 million words read were given.
Gold medals of AR students were given to those students who read more than 2 million words.
Two Accelerated Reading trophies, along with a Barnes & Noble gift card were given to two top reading students. Lainey Miller, seventh grader, earned more than 400 points of her AR goal, and eighth-grader Avery McGee, AR reader of more than 257 points read, were the recipients. A drawing of all Accelerated Readers was drawn with a winner of a Barnes & Noble gift card. The drawing winner was Gabby Bertrand.
Class officers of seventh and eighth-grades were recognized with certificates.
Athletic awards were presented to all students participating in all sports -football, softball, track, baseball, cross country, track, tennis, cheerleading, Jayettes, basketball.
The Woodman of the World History Award is given to a seventh grader who achieves and earns the highest GPA in American history. Jacques Soileau was the recipient.
Jack Ardoin, eighth-grader, received The Eunice News Language Arts award. Ardoin achieved and earned the highest GPA in English.
The distinquished Clare Francois Montz Memorial Award is given to eighth grade students who have excelled academically in English, science, math and religion. Avery McGee received the English award; Caleb Fontenot was the recipient of the science award, Anna- Claire Heinen received the math award; and Dawson Ardoin achieved the religion Award.
The Young Christian Awards are given to students who are recognized as highest standards and values in school, who possess hard working skills, respect others, and show compassion for others. This year’s recipients were Ethan McDavid, seventh grader; and Ci Ci Trahan, eighth grader.
