Blue Jays storm past Crowley
The Blue Jays scored in every inning against Crowley as St. Edmund grabbed a 10-6 win in Metro Acadiana League play on Wednesday.
Drake Brunet tripled and scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the first before Jack Brown tripled and crossed home plate on a single by Gibson LaFleur.
St. Edmund loaded the bases in the bottom of the second when Dawson Ardoin reached on an error, while Brad Miller and Jack Miller both walked.
Ardoin and Jack Miller scored on a double by Brunet, who later scored on a wild pitch.
The Blue Jays added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning, begun when Jack Brown was hit by a pitch and scored on a sacrifice by Phillippe Aguillard.
LaFleur walked and courtesy runner John Ross Guillory scored on an error, while John Hull singled and scored on a sacrifice by Ardoin.
Crowley closed the gap to 8-3 in the top of the fourth inning, scoring all three runs on Blue Jay errors.
St. Edmund responded with two more runs in the bottom of the inning, sparked when Brad Miller walked and later stole home.
Jack Miller reached on a fielder’s choice and crossed home on a sacrifice by Brock Bieber.
Crowley closed the margin to 10-6 in the top of the fifth inning before the game was called because of lightning.
LaFleur pitched the first three innings for the win as he struck out six and allowed just one hit.
The Blue Jays entertain Iota on Monday before visiting Jennings on Wednesday as the second half of summer league action begins.
