Eunice News wins 18 state press awards
The Eunice News won 18 awards in the Louisiana Press Association’s Better Newspaper Editorial and Better Newspaper Advertising competitions.
The awards were for work done in 2014.
Award winners were announced at the 135th Annual Louisiana Press Association Convention in New Orleans.
The South Carolina Press Association judged the editorial and advertising competitions.
Fifty-four newspapers, publications, and college/university student newspapers submitted 2,485 entries.
The Eunice News competed in Division 4, which includes newspapers with average paid weekly circulation 3,000 to 1,501.
The Eunice News won three first-place awards.
Jim Butler, former editor, won first-place awards for Best Headline and Best News Photo.
Anissa Israel and Misty Deaville Gilley won a first-place award for Staff Generated Color for an Augie’s Maple Avenue Pharmacy & Gifts advertisement published Nov. 27, 2014.
